One of the most important things you can do for your pet is regular yearly exams and vaccinations. Each pet has unique needs depending on their environment and activity level. At your pet’s yearly visit, a thorough head to tail exam is done by a Veterinarian. The appropriate vaccines are then determined and given to your pet. Checking your pet’s stool at this time is important for detecting intestinal parasites that may be harmful to the pet or the family members. Most intestinal parasites are not visible in the pet’s feces. If parasites are detected, a proper dewormer will be prescribed. Heartworm and flea and tick prevention are also prescribed. Nutritional counseling may be done at this time as well.
